Our Mission

We are a collective of volunteers from the local scene who have joined together to form a nonprofit harm reduction organization promoting health and safety within the Houston rave community. We are here to help ensure a safe environment and add to a positive and fun experience for everyone at local events. Our basic activity involves staffing harm reduction booths at raves, where we distribute literature and answer questions about the safer use of ecstasy and other dance drugs.

Many organizations like this one exist in cities across the US and Canada, and throughout the world. This is a growing movement and its success depends upon the support of all of those who put on and attend events.

Harm Reduction

Harm reduction starts with the observation that whether or not it is possible to convince everybody not to use illegal drugs, or to eliminate the supply altogether, people are using drugs right now, and there is no indication that this situation will change. Unfortunately, the people using illegal drugs often have little knowledge about the drugs they are using, including whether they are actually getting the drug they expect. This situation makes drug experimentation far more harmful than it needs to be, and creates a need for harm reduction programs. Harm reduction, therefore, attempts to reduce the harm resulting from the use of drugs by providing users with the tools and information needed to make informed decisions.

Just Say Know!

Just as spreading the message to abstain from sex has done little to prevent the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases, it is no longer enough to ask us to "Just Say No" to drugs. Since a harm-reduction approach has been taken to the safe(r) sex movement, the majority of the population has become more educated on preventing the spread of STDs. By using this model to empower ourselves to influence our own health and safety, we can help reduce the harm resulting from the use of drugs.
