Volunteering
Please take some time and read
over all of the information on the Dancesafe web site and also
Ravesafe's web site. Although we
are not yet directly affiliated with these groups, our ideals and goals are
the same and the web sites provide a lot of information that we will go
over when we are in contact with you.
You don't have to be an "official" volunteer to do any of these
things. Let's keep our scene a safe one and watch out for each other!
If you're interested in volunteering, please keep these basic
principles in mind... -HHRP is
non-judgemental when it comes to drug use. -We
are a harm reduction organization, not a use prevention
organization. -We ask that you familiarize
yourself with the drugs commonly associated with rave scene so that you
will be able to properly answer any questions that come up. Remember, we
are here to offer truthful information. If you do not know an answer, ask
the person for contact information so that we can get back to
them. -HHRP members on duty should not carry
any illegal drugs on their bodies or in their bags, and shall be sober
while on duty or part of a HHRP production. Being under the influence,
or caught with drugs could ruin the reputation of the whole group, and you
will be asked to leave the group. If you choose to use, we ask that you do
not represent yourself as a member of HHRP at the time, and you yourself
are responsible. Violating these will result in you being asked to leave
the group. -Drug dealers are not permitted to
participate in HHRP activities. -A common
question that will come up is 'Where do I buy pills?' HHRP members will
not indicate or point out dealers at all, even if you do know, please
respond with "I do not know." We are non-judgemental when it comes to drug
use, but remember we are here for the safety of each other and do not want
to put anyone at risk. -We are here to help out
with no rewards except the satisfaction of helping others, and trying to
make our scene safer for everyone
involved. -HHRP members are required to attend at least 2 events and/or meetings each month in
order to be considered an active member. -And finally, this is volunteer work,
if something comes up and you cannot help out, or want to goto another
party on the same night we have a table planned for, or anything else -
that is perfectly ok, the only thing we ask for is that you do not make
committments and then backout without first letting us know.
